Directors of Operation
Sherry Boyer
Sherry is the founder of Dog Behavior Rehab. In January of 2007 she began to realize that her house had been taken over by Board and Behave and Board and Train dogs. Sherry and Rommey began looking for a facility to house their clients' dogs, and The Dog House Inn was born.
Sherry is a Certified PetTech Pet Saver, Certified Force-Free and E-Touch Trainer, Certified Canine Kinaesthics Practitioner, a Professional Member of The International Association of Canine Professionals, on the Board of Directors of GoKids, and happens to be fluent in Japanese.
Rommey Walsh
Rommey has spent a lifetime with dogs. She grew up in a household with Search and Rescue and Schutzhund trained protection dogs. While learning from a young age how to handle dogs in all phases, She came to realize that there is more than one path to happy multiple dog households. She has become an expert in using variety of training methods to help families integrate their dogs into their lives in ways that fit each individual family.
Rommey’s extensive professional background with pets includes: PetSmart trainer for 1 1/2 years; pet store manager; groomer and lead groomer; vet tech for 7 1/2 years at a veterinary hospital, 6 1/2 years as head nurse, and is a Certified PetTech Pet Saver. She has been a trainer and consultant with Dog Behavior Rehab since 2006. She is a member of the Association for Pet Dog Trainers, and a Professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. She is most interested in the dog/child relationship and the rescue and rehabilitation of homeless and injured animals. She is also the owner of the chickens and horse that we use in training!
Daycare Supervisor
Dawn Hunt
Dawn is a lifelong animal lover. She grew up with 6 dogs and 5 cats, and all of them got along! She moved to Gilroy 3 years ago, and loves it here. Dawn is certified in Pet First Aid, and has been with The Dog House Inn since the beginning. We would not be able do it without her. Dawn's devotion to the care of the dogs is outstanding, and shows in all that she does. Dawn says "I love my job. I've never had a job like it. It's hard work, but it's fun and I don't go home stressed out at night. I actually look forward to coming in to work!" Dawn adopted Angus almost one year ago, a previously aggressive “ChiWattie” that had been fostered by Dog Behavior Rehab. Angus lives with many cats out at the ranch, and comes to work with Dawn almost every day.
Head Trainer
Terry Smalling
Terry is also a lifelong animal lover. He grew up in rural Fresno, and there were always dogs on his grandparents’ farm. He took his love for dogs seriously enough to get certified as a dog trainer at the Arizona Canine Academy, under Rocky Boatman. Terry continued his work with dogs as a full-time trainer at PetSmart in San Jose and then started his own training business. Terry lives with Beau, his handsome black Labrador Retriever, and is a fantastic asset to our team. You will find Terry to be very knowledgeable and insightful, and always compassionate. Terry is an accredited Dog Trainer through the ACA, is a Certified Pet Care Technician, and is certified in Pet First Aid.
